SUPPORT FOR THE CHESTER HOUSE ESTATE FROM STANTON CROSS DEVELOPMENTS

Spanning an 85-acre area, The Chester House Estate is currently undergoing an extensive redevelopment that will see it feature a café, artisan market and shops, alongside a B&B and restaurant in the Grade 2* listed building. There will also be a new education centre.

The first guests are expected to be welcomed to enjoy the new facilities at the free to enter site in October this year. As well as providing people living at Stanton Cross and beyond with a perfect place to meet, exercise and shop, it also presents residents with the opportunity to connect with over 10,000 years of history – spanning Stone Age, Iron Age and Anglo-Saxon times – and its importance as one of the largest Roman towns to be discovered in Northamptonshire. The site is currently closed while work is underway.

The redevelopment of The Chester House Estate will also provide nine full-time jobs, 50-100 part-time jobs and countless volunteering opportunities across its archaeological digs and maintenance of the grounds, as well as in the shops and cafes.

Lee Barrett, Divisional Operations Director for Vistry Group and a representative of Stanton Cross Developments LLP, promoters of the Stanton Cross project, said: “The Chester House Estate has both historical, recreational and educational significance, and we are very lucky to have it so close to Stanton Cross for those living here to enjoy. The project currently underway is certainly an ambitious one and we are thrilled to be able to make a financial contribution towards this as part of our section 106 agreement.

“We are very much looking forward to seeing the new facilities opened to the public throughout the year, making the area even more inviting for those living or moving here.”

Jack Pishhorn, The Chester House Estate Manager, adds: “We appreciate the support we have received from Stanton Cross Developments LLP and hope to continue to work together in the future to create a sustainable and successful visitor centre and education facility that can be enjoyed by those from Stanton Cross and Wellingborough – as well as encouraging more people to the area.”
